To Ross Lake From Ashland

  • At the 6 mile gate entryway into the North Maine Woods bear right onto the American Realty Rd.

LANDMARK

  • Go approximately 14.2 miles and look for the Mobil sign on the left side of the road.

  • Continue .5 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign, and bear left

  • Continue 1.6 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and bear left

  • Continue 8.3 miles to a “Y” in the road and bear left

      LANDMARK

  • Continue 13.6 miles to a 4-way intersection and continue straight through.

  • Continue 5.4 miles to a “Y” in the road.  Either direction continues on the American Realty Rd. and is approximately the same length (4.7 – 5.1 miles).  The right branch is the main truck route.  We recommend this right branch in the winter time.

LANDMARK

  • Continue 3.3 miles across a large bridge at Umsaskis Ranger Station.

LANDMARK

  • Continue 7.3 miles to Clayton Lake Logging Camps.

  • Continue .8 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and a “Y” in the road, and bear left.

  • Continue 5.7 miles to a “T” intersection.  Turn left onto the Poulan Rd.  There should be a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign located here.

  • Continue 3.6 miles to an intersection with a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and turn right onto Ross Mountain Rd.

LANDMARK

  • Continue 1.3 miles to the green sign for the Ross Lake Campsite.

  • Continue 1.6 miles to a “T” intersection and a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign.  Turn right to continue on the Ross Mountain Rd.

LANDMARK

  • Continue .7 mile to an abandoned set of logging camps

  • Continue .8 mile to a “T” intersection and a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign.  Turn left onto the Ross Mountain Connector Rd.

  • Continue 1.9 miles to a 4-way intersection and a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign.  Turn left onto Ross Lake Camps driveway.

  • Continue 3.1 to the large camp sign and entryway on your left hand side.

 

To Ross Lake Camps From Millinocket

  • Follow the signs to Baxter State Park as you go through Millinocket.  However, do not enter Baxter State Park.  Head toward the Penobscot River and look for the Golden Rd. on your left hand side.

  • Turn right at the ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign onto the Telos Rd.  The pavement will end on this road.

  • Continue 13.8 miles to the Telos gate checkpoint and enter the North Maine Woods.

LANDMARK

  • Continue 7.5 miles to an “Entering the Allagash Wilderness Waterway” sign.

  • Continue .9 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign.  Bear right and go across a bridge at Chamberlain Lake.

  • Continue 8 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and a split in the road at Leadbetter Pond Rd.  Bear right to stay on the Telos Rd.

  • Continue 2.5 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and a “T” in the road.  Go straight through.

  • Continue 2.1 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and a “Y” in the road.  Go straight through.

LANDMARK

  • Continue 1.2 miles to a green Haymock Lake Campsite sign.

  • Continue 1.1 miles to a stop sign intersection and a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign.  Turn left at the sign.

  • Continue 1.9 miles to a “Y” in the road and bear to the right.

  • Continue 3.3 miles to a “Y” split in the road.  Bear right onto the Cyr rd.

LANDMARK

  • Continue 6.5 miles to John’s Bridge.

  • Continue 4.8 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and a split in the road.  Bear right onto the Poulan Rd. and go across a bridge.

LANDMARK

  • Continue 5.8 miles to Blanchett Logging Camps.

  • Continue 2.9 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and a split in the road.  Bear left at the sign.

  • Continue 9.3 miles to a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign and a “T” intersection.  Turn left onto Ross Mountain Rd.

LANDMARK

  • Continue 1.3 miles to the green sign for the Ross Lake Campsite.

  • Continue 1.6 miles to a “T” intersection and a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign.  Turn right to continue on the Ross Mountain Rd.

  • Continue .7 mile to an abandoned set of logging camps

  • Continue .8 mile to a “T” intersection and a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign.  Turn left onto the Ross Mountain Connector Rd.

  • Continue 1.9 miles to a 4-way intersection and a ROSS LAKE CAMPS sign.  Turn left onto Ross Lake Camps driveway.

  • Continue 3.1 to the large camp sign and entryway on your left hand side.
